Fort Christian, commonly called “The Fort”, is 300 years old and is the oldest standing structure in the US Virgin Islands. Named after King Christian V, it was originally built to protect the Danish settlement from raiders. This historical landmark was used as the first establishment for many community functions, a jail, courthouse, church and governor’s residence.
