It was not a lonely time but a time to be alone during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Six feet apart was the guideline and the signs were everywhere. On sunset afternoons with all entertainment shutdown, the artist would venture to a spot on the University of the Virgin Islands to get out of the house and enjoy the peacefulness of the sunset. There, even the birds on the rocks below knew the moment, it seemed. For they too observed social distancing during the pandemic.
