This view is from the end of  Mainstreet looking westward towards the Market Square gondola on the right, with the Bank of St. Thomas building prominently sits on the corner of Strande Gade and Kronprindsen Gade. On Saturday mornings the street comes alive with fresh local and Caribbean produce. Before the dawn, or as we would say on St. Thomas ‘Fo Day Mahnin’ (Fō Dā Mänĭn), Ama’s grandmother would load her son’s truck with her plants, fruits and fruit drinks and head for her special spot on the corner, at the head of the street under a tree right across from the Enid M Baa library. Everybody knew Ms. Martha. Ama and her father would stop by during the day just to sit down and talk with her and meet all the friends, family and patrons who would also pass by to purchase their weekly treats or plants for their gardens.
